

Mission: to train competitive economists, service industry specialists and researchers capable of creating knowledge, innovation and solutions for the sustainable development of Kazakhstan.
The Higher School of Economics and Tourism of L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University is one of the largest academic and research units of the University, providing education in economics, finance, management, public audit and the hospitality industry.
The Faculty of Economics was established in 1996 and transformed into the Higher School of Economics and Tourism in December 2025. The School employs 111 faculty members, including 12 Doctors of Science, 45 Candidates of Science and 35 PhDs, with an academic degree rate of 82%.
Education is delivered at the Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD levels. Bachelor’s programs cover management, economics, public and local administration, accounting and auditing, business and entrepreneurship economics, finance, public audit, as well as tourism and restaurant and hotel business. Master’s programs provide advanced professional and research training in economics, international business and strategic trade control, finance, accounting and auditing, management, public and local administration, innovation management, tourism, hospitality management and public audit. PhD programs focus on training academic and research staff in economics, finance, accounting and auditing, innovation management, project management, public audit and tourism.
Research activity demonstrates steady growth. Currently, 21 research projects are being implemented, with total research income exceeding KZT 827 million in 2023–2025. Faculty members actively publish in Web of Science and Scopus indexed journals. The School publishes the Economic Series of the ENU Bulletin.
The Higher School actively develops international cooperation and academic mobility. More than 500 students have participated in international study and research programs. Joint and double-degree programs are implemented with universities from France, China, Russia, Ireland and Kyrgyzstan.
A flagship international initiative is cooperation with Nankai University (China). Within this project, 180 Chinese Master’s students study in the Economics and International Business and Strategic Trade Control programs under ENU curricula with the awarding of an ENU degree. The programs are officially accredited by the Ministry of Education of China, making ENU the first university in Kazakhstan to export its own educational programs.
Education is delivered using practice-oriented and dual learning models in cooperation with public authorities, analytical centers and industry partners.
